When
your baby starts biting on anything within grabbing range
and drooling more than usual, you know that it’s about time
you get your baby some teething toys to help ease the pain
on their gums. You most certainly can’t have your baby bite
unsanitary things or important objects, so getting them
teething toys made especially for them to chew on is what
most parents do.
Most
babies start teething at the age of seven months, but
teething can occur any time, as early as three months and as
late as one year. Usually, the age of teething for your
infant will follow the age of teething of the mother or
father. Teething usually ends at the age of two or three
years, and at the end of it, your toddler should have around
twenty baby teeth.
Types
of Teething Toys
There
are three different types of infant teething toys
available.

-
Firstly, there are soft baby teething toys for the
earliest stages of teething, when the teeth haven’t
surfaced yet. They’re usually made from soft cloth
and come as stuffed animals and such. Some teething
toys even make squeaky noises when you squish
them.
-
Lastly, there are solid infant teething toys for
when you start seeing the teeth emerge from the
gums. These include teething rings and the like,
which are made from soft rubber and plastics, and
colored with nontoxic paint.
When
buying your baby teething toys, make sure that your infant
will like them and be interested in them. Bright colors
usually interest babies, as do shapes and animals. Choose an
infant teething toy that your baby will have fun playing
with and be interested in chewing, so that your child
doesn’t pick up other objects that can be
harmful.

There
are also baby teething toys that have
double functions. For example, rattles with teether ring
handles, and stuffed toys with teething rings attached to
them. There are also baby
teething blankets, which can be used when putting
your baby to sleep. They have rubber edges for your baby to
chew on, and are soft and comfortable.
Even
pacifiers can be used for teething. Infant teething toys can
even come with vibrator to massage your baby’s gums when
they chew on the toy. Stay away from teether toys that have
small parts that could get detached, since these could
become dangerous if your baby accidentally swallows
them.
Make
sure to clean your infant teething toys after a while of
being used, or if your baby stops chewing it for a while.
Even these toys can get dirty, so clean them well before
giving them back to your baby. Remember that your baby’s
teething toy is meant for your baby and only your baby, so
you might want to watch over the teething ring if there are
other babies around as well.
